Motor Starting Auto Transformer for Heavy-Duty Applications

This motor starting auto transformer supports heavy-duty starting applications with multiple tapping configurations, air cooling and optional winding material choices.

The motor starting auto transformer is designed for applications that draw a high starting current, including industrial blowers, fans and flywheel systems. Available tapping configurations include a single 70% tapping, three tappings at 50%, 60% and 75%, or four tappings at 40%, 50%, 60% and 75%. It uses 0.5mm E-I silicon steel and may be supplied with enamelled copper wire or enamelled aluminium wire windings.

Operating Features and Applications

This air-cooled auto transformer is suitable for heavy-duty starting applications where the starting duration may exceed 8–10 seconds or the duty rating exceeds eight starts per hour. The maximum stated restart frequency is seven times per hour at appropriate intervals. Insulation options include Class F and Class H, while transformers above 11kW are protected by a thermostat. Special designs may also be considered upon request.
